http://www.rescue.org/us-program/us-phoenix-azFounded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has led the way from harm to home for men, women and children who have fled and cannot return to their countries of origin as a result of violent persecution, oppression, or armed conflict. As the largest refugee resettlement agency in Arizona, the IRC in Phoenix has helped resettle over 12,000 refugee families since opening in 1994 and serves more than 3,000 refugees annually. The IRC in Phoenix provides core services such as access to medical care, food, shelter, clothing, and job placement to recently arrived refugees. In addition, the IRC in Phoenix has implemented service programs focused on refugees’ long term success and integration into the Phoenix community. These programs assist refugees in their journey from surviving to thriving by empowering them with the tools, skills and opportunities needed to become self-sufficient.
