MLK 2018: Garden Volunteers at the Japanese Friendship Garden

The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix is a garden rich in culture and tradition. With serene landscape views at every turn of the path, maintaining the beauty of the trees, shrubs, and the ponds is vital to ensuring that visitors receive an authentic experience. Volunteers are needed to help with ongoing garden maintenance throughout the garden. Project duties range from the non-technical such as cleaning various areas of trash, to the technical, which can include some precise pruning of the plants and trees. This project may be labor intensive at times, but volunteers are encouraged to perform duties in which they feel comfortable performing.
Volunteers should wear long pants and a shirt with sleeves. Long sleeves, a hat, and sunglasses are also encouraged. Please also bring a reusable water bottle or sports drink to stay properly hydrated during the duration of the project. Also, be advised to wear and bring sunscreen.

The minimum age of this event is 16. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian with them while volunteering for this opportunity.

By signing up for volunteer opportunities and not attending, you may be depriving someone else the chance to participate and the volunteer opportunities of much-needed support. Please note that in an effort to accommodate volunteers who sign up for opportunities by choice, HandsOn does NOT accept court ordered volunteers and will NOT sign off on any court-related documents.
