Experience Corps is a unique opportunity for
individuals, who are Boomers and Older
Adults. Members spend the school year as
tutors and mentors to 4th grade
students who are below the state standard
for their grade level in reading, writing
and math within the Mesa Public School
district.
Members:
• work with teachers in the classroom for
one school year, 1 to 15 hours a week at a
Mesa elementary school
• receive training on teaching strategies
related to content, mentoring, tutoring,
conflict resolution, behavior management and
cultural sensitivity
• work closely with teachers to help
students one-on-one and/or in small groups
• can receive a small stipend for serving
10+ hours a week
